From behind schedule to .NET success.
Customer MON-E provides solutions to facilitate personal finance transactions and management. Founded in 1999, MON-E offers documentation, application, training and compliance services to personal finance companies. Business Challenge The clients computerised system manages customer information, lending information and lending transactions throughout 118 outlets Australia wide. The system was no longer able to manage the volume of data reliably or provide the required performance. It was also unable to meet increasing reporting demands. A project to move the system to a new web platform and enhance functionality was initiated. The project was behind schedule. Solution The new system was built using ASP.NET, C# and SQL Server. Lateral’s Senior Architect reviewed the intended architecture and worked with service providers to implement a highly redundant, high performance and scalable infrastructure. As part of the review licensing requirements were considered and SQL Server Reporting Services was implemented to meet the growing reporting needs. Lateral’s Project Manager rebuilt and reforecast the project plan, recruited project team members, managed the project and liaised with management. Lateral’s Project Manager also implemented SharePoint as a project management tool to improve communications in the project team, assign and manage tasks, record and manage bugs and to store project documentation. Lateral’s skills were also required to develop T-SQL stored procedures and Reporting Services reports. Results In reviewing and simplifying the architecture Lateral’s Senior Architect was able to greatly reduce licensing costs while still allowing for the required up-time and performance. The SharePoint site gave the project team clear visibility of what was required of each person to reach go live and also to support the project management methodology. The project went live smoothly, the project team was justifiably proud, management was happy and the outlet users were happy. |
